If you're dealing with urinary incontinence, you likely know that it can come with unexpected leaks and unwanted odors. The good news is that Always Discreet incontinence products have a light, fresh scent with unique technology designed to neutralize the odor – not mask it.

Tips for Managing Incontinence Odor

Learn the common causes of urine odor and incorporate these lifestyle changes to keep your urine under control... and less smelly.

Hydrate. Dehydration is a common cause of your urine odor due to the amount of ammonia in your pee. Drinking 6—8 glasses of water a day can help flush out the ammonia, reducing the strong odor. If you're worried about drinking too much water and bladder leaks, talk with your doctor on recommended fluid intake.

Treat "Other" Bladder Issues. Certain bladder issues, like a urinary tract infection (UTI), kidney stones or other sexually transmitted infections can result in bacteria build-up in the urine, which can cause the urine to smell.

Maintain Good Feminine Hygiene. It is important to keep the vagina clean and dry to reduce bacterial infections. This means following a good routine of washing your body and your vagina. You should also wipe from front to back to prevent bacteria from getting into the vagina. If you are using incontinence liners, pads or underwear, be sure to change them before they get too soiled.

Use Incontinence Protection. See below for an overview of how Always Discreet incontinence liners, pads and underwear are designed to help neutralize odors.

Talk to Your Doctor. As with any medical concerns, discuss changes to the smell and color of your urine with your doctor. He or she can determine the root cause of the odor and how to best treat it.
